The fine people at indieWIRE have just published my ballot for the top ten films of this year and the decade.
It’s appropriate that Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love rests atop my best of the decade list because I reviewed the movie out of Cannes for indieWIRE in 2000.
This was a pretty good year at the movies; careful readers might note six of my top ten are actually 2008 productions, movies that I first saw at Cannes, Berlin, Sundance or Toronto last year. That’s pretty much how it’s been the last couple of years (I’m sure next year’s list, the top contenders already are A Prophet, Wild Grass, Ne change rien and Like You Know It All.) It’s the vagaries of the distribution system, as currently practiced.
I’ll have a lot more on titles and directors to come.
I'd love to send you information about our on-demand TV channel, which exclusively airs contemporary European and international feature films (the same ones you're covering). We're available nationally across the US and Canada. Can you contact me at the e-mail I've included?
Thanks.
